Hi – Thank you for visiting my site.
There’s a misconception, that once you finish work or are above a certain age, access to technology is neither needed or appropriate.
This misconception is perpetuated by many websites who publish information or training, that uses a preconception that the reader is already well versed in the subject or possess sufficient knowledge to understand the technical language being used, including acronyms and abbreviations.
This approach is further exasperated by using confusing terminology.
My aim is to try and ease you gently into the basics of technology, be it mobile devices (for example mobile phones and tablets) or computers (for example desktops and laptops). In addition to this we will look at virtual assistants, such as Amazons Alex, Google Assistant, Microsoft Cortana or Apples Siri.
Through the site I will give you tips and guides on carryout out tasks. If you do things slightly differently, that doesn’t make you wrong and me right, as long as the end result is what you are intending. These tips and steps have worked for me.
My name is Tom Gardner, I’m based in Guildford United Kingdom.
I have ten years experience in teaching people, of all abilities, in using technology both in the classroom and one to one.
I also teach a group who are members of the University of the Third Age, U3A, and have two years experience working with the visually impaired.
Because I’m UK based, I will be talking from a UK perspective, but don’t worry IT is largely the same where ever you live and so this shouldn’t be an issue, but please bear this in mind.
I hope you find the site useful – I will do my best to keep things at the correct level for you, but being human I might not always achieve this, so feel free to contact me via the contact form with suggestions or questions.
Thanks for visiting.
